Who We Are
We, at Mass Incarceration Must End Inc., understand the urgency of addressing the complexities and challenges faced by those affected by the criminal justice system. Our work extends beyond advocacy; we are here to empower individuals and families enduring the ramifications of unjust incarceration. By actively engaging with communities and stakeholders, we seek to dismantle the barriers that perpetuate inequality and sufferings in our society.
We recognize the varied experiences of the incarcerated, including those wrongfully convicted and those who have received disproportionately harsh sentences. Our commitment involves not just speaking out against these injustices, but also providing direct support to families who often bear the emotional and financial burdens of incarceration. We aim to foster resilience through education, emotional support, and resources that help navigate the intricacies of the legal system.
Through collaboration with a network of organizations and community leaders, we advocate for comprehensive reform within the criminal justice system. Our approach emphasizes rehabilitation over punishment, guided by the principle that every individual possesses the potential for transformation. We aspire to influence policy changes that will lead to a more equitable and just society.
At Mass Incarceration Must End Inc., the respect and dignity of every person are at the core of our mission. Together, we can work towards a future where justice is truly served and where all individuals are given the chance to reclaim their lives and contribute positively to their communities. We are empathetic individuals who recognize the injustices in our criminal justice system, particularly the bias against people of color. We advocate for fair sentencing, believing punishments should fit crimes. Major changes are needed in facilities to ensure proper rehabilitation and healing. Cruel and unusual punishment is inhumane, contributing to further trauma and increasing recidivism due to lack of resources and mental health support. Many offenders come from broken, abusive, and neglectful homes, often struggling with literacy and turning to gangs for a sense of family and survival. Clients are not defined by their past but by their growth, with corrections department support. Each client is like family; while we assist them, they must also help themselves. Legal cases take time, especially without funds, but together we can achieve our goals. We advocate for improved prison conditions, including reduced violence, air conditioning, maintained ice machines, healthy food, and timely medical care. Our goals align with other organizations for change. We recognize abuse and corruption in facilities and demand a system overhaul, prioritizing honesty and integrity, humane treatment, and community safety.
“The criminal justice system is faulty by design and has been since its inception. Established to build up and profit exorbitantly from the prison industrial complex a now multi billion dollar big business. The system is capitalizing off of the disenfranchised, disadvantaged, those living at the poverty level or below and the physically and mentally disabled. Prisons for profit MUST not be an option and holds no place in our society if we are to say we are civilized humans.”
