https://chng.it/kjSvLBvGWN This is my dear sweet friend Shelton Jerome Holloway. Shelton is unique, gentle, kind, polite and has an amazing skill with remembering numbers, dates and time. However he has struggled throughout his life being learning impaired as well as having some mental impairment with an IQ below 30. He was wrongfully convicted of rape, murder and surgically removing a fellow female students organs in 1987. There was never any DNA testing performed, investigators essentially kidnapped him and took him to a hotel in another county and coerced/forced him to confess. Threatening harm to his family and telling him if he just confessed they’d let him go. Unknowingly Shelton confessed as he didn’t understand the investigators were setting him up. They read him his Miranda rights and asked him to read them back, but Shelton could not and still can not read. There was discrepancies in signatures between the Miranda rights form and the confession form. Shelton was set up to take the fall for someone else. This is a case of lazy detectives who wanted an open and shut case, saw the opportunity and took advantage of a mentally vulnerable young man that didn’t understand his rights nor what was taking place. There’s been a movie made about Shelton’s case as well as a book written about him. Shelton is serving a life sentence for a crime he did NOT COMMIT.
He’s been incarcerated for 40 years. Just think of how difficult it is for the average person, now think of how much harder it’s been for Shelton to survive in there unjustly and unlawfully. I will not rest until everyone knows the injustice that was done to him and until he is exonerated and set free to go home to his family who love and miss him.
